Feeling better

Well we have been through our first real illness with Abbey. I think I handled it pretty well as a first time mom. Even though I am a pediatric nurse, I'm learning it is completely different when it is your own child. She has a kidney infection....so sad! Now that she is on antibiotics she is so much happier. In a couple weeks she will have some test done to make sure there is not any anatomical reason she got the infection. I have a feeling that it is probably from the explosive poopie diapers that she has every morning that spread from her tummy to her back! We will keep you posted though!

She found her feet this week which is very exciting! Tonight she figured out she could get them to her mouth. It is so cute! It is amazing how such little things bring such joy to my heart! I mean really, feet, so what, right? But watching her discover and learn the world around her is the most awesome experience ever! I can never be upset or frustrated with her because as soon as those emotions start to rise up in me, she shoots a grin or a smile my way that melts my heart. Which is good considering the child still does not want to sleep during the day! I have been back to work for about a month now only working one night a week. I rarely get any rest before going in so I look forward to sleeping when I get home. This morning I got home from work and was completely exhausted. All I wanted was one hour of sleep! Abbey was determined not to take a nap. So in the midst of my sleep depravation and exhaustion I begin to get frustrated with Abbey for her perky little attitude. Not 2 seconds after feeling irritated she smiles the biggest smile and starts cooing and talking to me. I mean really, how can you be upset with such a precious adorable little being? Of course, I am beginning to feel a little whipped by this 13 lb monster! Its becoming more and more obvious that she calls the shots around here. I guess every new mom is allowed a little bit of that though!

Update

Good news...Abbey never had a kidney infection. I don't know what she had but her cultures were negetive. She definitely had something because she was feeling so much better after the antibiotics. She has finished those off and now we don't have to go for any more test...yeah! I'm just glad she is feeling better.
She has managed to catch a little cold. Its pretty pitiful. She gets so stuffy at night that she can't suck on her pacifier and breath at the same time. She gets so frustrated!

We finally had family pictures taken. They turned out great! These are a couple of the very first outfits my mom and I bought when we found out it was a girl. They are still my favorites!

4 month check up

Abbey had her check up yesterday. She actually did better this time than at her 2 month. She has been great even with a fever and sore legs today. She weighs 14 lbs and is 26 1/4 inches long. She is 50-75th percentile in weight and 95th percentile for height. The doctor keeps asking me how tall Clint is because she has been above average in height since birth. I guess we have to give credit to the other Neville's like Uncle Bill for her height, because it is obviously not from either of us!

I know I say it all the time but she is growing so fast! We started rice cereal last week. She loves it! and she does great! It has been lots of fun since she found her feet and discovered recently that she can get them to her mouth. She talks all the time and loves discovering new sounds she can make. Her most recent is making noise when breathing in. She will sit cooing and babbling and then make the funniest noise while breathing in to start on her next story. I wish you could hear her!

She can sit for moments at a time, until she gets excited and throws herself backwards. She can reach and grab for toys and she is working on getting the pacifier back in her mouth by herself.

She can be quite the stinker when she doesn't get her way. She doesn't like for anyone other than Clint or I to hold her. The car is also a place she has decided she doesn't like. She throws quite a little tantrum while riding in the car these days. She voices her opinion frequently. You will know right away when she doesn't agree! I had no idea it could start so young!

Here are some more adorable pictures!
